BARMM’s most wanted fugitive, Amar Sansawi Usman, and an associate were killed during the implementation of arrest warrants in Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur on Sunday, authorities said. Usman, who was listed as the No. 1 most wanted person in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), was facing multiple charges, including murder, robbery, and drug-related offenses.

Police said joint law enforcement operatives were serving arrest warrants in Sitio Bliss, Barangay Kapinpilan, at around 5:15 a.m. when Usman and his companion, identified only by the alias “Syok,” allegedly resisted arrest, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. The two suspects sustained gunshot wounds and were brought to a hospital, where they were later declared dead, according to authorities. Recovered from the scene were a .45-caliber pistol and an Uzi-type submachine gun, which investigators said would be subjected to forensic examination. Authorities said the operation was conducted by a joint police-military task force as part of ongoing efforts to serve outstanding warrants and address security concerns in the region.
