The body of a 32-year-old man who had been reported missing since late October was recovered from Taal Lake on Nov. 5 following an extensive search operation led by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and local disaster response authorities. The victim, a resident of Barangay Banay-Banay, Lipa City, was found floating near Barangay Saimsim, Sta. Teresita, Batangas, a day after search efforts were launched. His remains were subsequently identified by his mother before being turned over to the Sta. Teresita Municipal Police Station for documentation and investigation.

Authorities began search operations on Nov. 4 after the victim’s personal belongings were discovered along the shoreline of Taal Lake. According to information provided by his family, he had left their residence on Oct. 31 and failed to return home. The operation involved personnel from the Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog, Coast Guard Sub-Station Balete, Coast Guard Sub-Station San Nicolas, Special Operations Group-Southern Tagalog, and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. Responders carried out shoreline and underwater searches, seaborne patrols, and drone-assisted aerial surveillance in an effort to locate the missing individual.

Following the recovery, the PCG conducted information campaigns among residents and fisherfolk in lakeside communities to promote water safety awareness and help prevent drowning incidents.
