The Office of the Ombudsman has filed 79 criminal cases linked to the multi-billion-peso flood control corruption scandal, involving P10.78 billion worth of projects, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said Friday. Of the cases, 75 were filed before the Sandiganbayan and four before local courts, including charges of plunder, malversation of public funds, and violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

The cases involve 67 respondents, including a senator, four congressmen, a former public works secretary, government personnel, and private contractors. Meanwhile, Ombudsman prosecutors have filed 57 additional non-flood control cases involving 138 respondents and P13 billion in public funds. Remulla cited alleged schemes such as falsified land ownership documents, inflated right-of-way compensation, ghost projects, and unauthorized public fund disbursements.
