Former president Rodrigo Duterte is saddened and angered by what he perceives as efforts by the Marcos administration to target his allies and supporters instead of addressing the country’s pressing needs, his daughter Veronica “Kitty” Duterte said. In an interview posted on the Facebook page of Alvin & Tourism, Kitty said her father was particularly upset over the use of taxpayers’ money to pursue his allies, including Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, rather than prioritize essential public services and national concerns. She cited the ongoing El Niño phenomenon, flood control projects, and funding for the basic needs of Filipinos as more pressing matters that the government should address.
The government has offered a P50-million reward for information leading to Dela Rosa’s arrest. The senator, a former Philippine National Police chief who led the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign, is subject to an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) over alleged crimes against humanity linked to the drug war.
Meanwhile, Duterte remains detained at the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands, while awaiting trial over the alleged crimes against humanity. Kitty urged Filipinos to remain steadfast in opposing what she described as injustices in the country, saying that citizens must stand together to prevent the situation from worsening.
