The Department of Energy (DOE) has implemented a 15-day price freeze on household liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in cylinders weighing 11 kilograms and below, as well as kerosene products in Guinayangan, Quezon, from November 1 to 15, following the declaration of a State of Calamity due to the continuing effects of El Niño and persistent water shortages.
Under the Price Act, prices of basic necessities and prime commodities must remain at their prevailing levels before the declaration of a State of Calamity. The DOE clarified that price increases are prohibited during the 15-day period, although price reductions may still be implemented.
