The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has directed telcos to verify subscribers with more than 100 SIMs registered under their names as part of efforts to combat scams and illegal telecom activities. Users must prove ownership, control, and legitimate use of the SIMs within 15 days, or the SIMs may be deactivated. Unauthorized sale or transfer of registered SIMs remains punishable under the SIM Registration Act, with penalties of up to six years’ imprisonment or fines of up to ₱300,000.
