The Sandiganbayan Third Division has ordered the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to submit a detailed report on former House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s whereabouts while detained at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas, following allegations that he had been leaving the facility at will. In its November 5 order, the anti-graft court directed jail officials to review CCTV footage from September 14 to November 4, 2026, and submit a notarized report detailing his movements, along with surveillance logs, vehicle records, medical reports, and other detention documents.
The order followed allegations made by columnist Ramon Tulfo, who later retracted his report, saying he had received false information from a source. Jail Superintendent Lourdes Pacion, meanwhile, maintained that Romualdez had never left the detention premises. The court also directed Pacion, jail physician Dr. Henry Fabro, and BJMP information technology personnel to attend another hearing on November 9, 2026.
