Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla on Friday vowed to take legal action against Facebook pages spreading false claims that he is suffering from leukemia, stressing that he has been cancer-free for nearly three years. During a press conference, Remulla said his office would file complaints with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and Facebook to stop the proliferation of misinformation about his health.

He said the false reports were intended to create public doubt about his health and undermine the credibility of the Office of the Ombudsman. Remulla also pointed to alleged political detractors, including supporters of the Duterte family and individuals facing charges related to the flood control controversy, as possible sources of the disinformation.

The Ombudsman clarified that his previous health condition was already resolved, adding that the spread of false information must be addressed to prevent the public from being misled.
