Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Rommel Supangan formally received the rank of Admiral during a donning and oath-taking ceremony presided over by Transportation Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon on November 3, 2026, with Supangan’s family in attendance. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved his promotion from Vice Admiral on October 19, 2026, following the recommendation of former Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez. Supangan continues to lead the PCG’s maritime security, safety, law enforcement, search and rescue, and marine environmental protection efforts, guided by his priorities of good governance, effective maritime governance, modernization and capacity building, and strategic partnerships.
