The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has officially postponed the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, moving the tournament to December 23, 2027, through January 21, 2028, due to growing security concerns in the region.

The decision follows attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement, which have raised concerns over the safety of international travel and the movement of teams, officials, and supporters. Travel disruptions and logistical challenges also contributed to the decision to adjust the tournament schedule.

Football Australia welcomed the postponement, emphasizing that the safety and security of players, officials, and fans must remain the top priority. Meanwhile, Saudi organizers reaffirmed their commitment to hosting the continental football competition and expressed readiness to proceed with preparations under the revised schedule.
