House private prosecutor Lorna Kapunan on Friday questioned a P568.15-million discrepancy between Cale88 Foods Corp.’s declared sales of P208.49 million and its actual bank inflows of P776.64 million, based on Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) records. The company is linked to Vice President Sara Duterte’s husband, lawyer Manases Carpio. Kapunan said the prosecution is seeking to verify whether the funds came from legitimate export transactions supported by proper documentation.

Cale88 is among the entities scrutinized in Duterte’s impeachment trial over alleged unexplained wealth and incomplete asset disclosures. The Vice President is scheduled to present her defense before the Senate impeachment court on November 9.
