Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla questioned the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) for allowing former House Speaker Martin Romualdez to have a personal assistant while detained. Speaking on DZRH, Remulla said he would investigate the arrangement, while the BJMP confirmed it was conducting a probe into the privilege reportedly authorized by a jail warden. The bureau said it would not tolerate unauthorized privileges or preferential treatment and vowed to take appropriate action against personnel found responsible for any violations.
